Springfield Ipswich Chess Club

New venue: Ipswich Grammar School – STEM Building. Woodend Road Woodend.

We now only have club, open to players of all ages and skill levels.

The club operates on Tuesday night. The club closes during school holidays and public holidays (including Ipswich Show Day).

One night rapid events (5 rounds in 1 night): Register from 5:30pm for a 6:00pm start.

Five round classical (5 rounds over 5 weeks): Register from 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start.

All games are submitted for Queensland Junior Chess Ratings.

Club founder, Ed Cubilla, partitioned the Ipswich City Council to set up outdoor chess tables at the Robelle Domain. This is a casual gathering.

Unfortunately, we have discontinued meetings at the Robelle Domain. We are always looking for volunteers who could help get this up and running again.

New Location

The Club meets Tuesday nights and closes during school holidays.

The club is currently trialing running concurrent events:

• A one night – 5 round rapid at 10mins + 2secs per move. Open to adults and juniors. Counted towards QJ (Qld Junior) ratings. Register from 5:30 for a 6pm start
• A classical tournament at 1 round per night – 60mins + 10secs per move. Register at 6:30 for a 7pm start.
• Parents of junior players should stay at the venue for the duration.

Simply show up to the club during registration time.

We accept players at all levels. The bare minimum is that players know the basic rules of chess.
